Steel speakson

Materials have a voice they speak , we just need to listen. There is a reactive and a proactive voice which at times tell about the materials state, happiness or grief . I have been working on a steel rod prototype since two days and I feel that steel can speak, it at times gives me a warning "do not do that again and some times i say "well done". There has been some bending, cutting and welding work involved and that makes me write about it, the material wants me to remember it or I want to remember it,whatever the case may be.
The story begins by cleaning the mild steel rod, dirty they lie in the store waiting for some one,as you go grab them your hands get dirty just telling you that you need to get your hands dirty to work with them.A few moments of inspection for any cuts or shrinkage marks , just as you examine vegetables before buying you are ready. Washing them , but only kerosene is allowed here dried and wiped they are ready to use,now they shine also indeed beauty is skin deep.
Now kick starts the process of making the prototype marking various sizes and then cutting the rods it seems they are butter slices ,they readily accept the saw blade ..well done.Ok now lets try to bend them ,a few jigs places in few position and the rod clamped in position holding the rod tightly if it wants to run out of control.I bend them they do bend to a few degree but after a limit it starts screaming and if we try more it coils back JUST saying NO.
But then after a lot of discussion and argument with it its done . The material is ready to go in to the second stage welding..
